Jerry Heilpern, CFBE | President, CEO
 

Jerry brings to the table over 30 years of restaurant and hospitality experience.

After successfully completing a Chef's Apprentice program and completing his BA in Finance and Economics from Wayne State University, Jerry worked in national chain, franchise, and emerging brand environments.

His experience includes time working with the concept development divisions of TGI Fridays, and Damon's the Place for Ribs, Houlihans, Applebee’s and Chili’s. Additionally, Jerry has spent time with Vicorp Restaurants working in a "turn around" management team hired to assist in the repositioning of the Bakers Square division. He also gained hands-on knowledge while working for Saxena Hospitality World Wide, an international restaurant and Hotel Company, overseeing mergers and acquisitions in the restaurant division as well as new concept development. His time with these hospitality groups has given Jerry a very diverse background in developing unique food and beverage solutions.

In addition to his professional experience, Jerry also serves in the Georgia Restaurant Association, the American Marketing Association, and the Foodservice Consultant Society International. He also shares his knowledge with collegiate level students as he currently serves on the faculty of The Art Institute of Atlanta, and has developed curriculum for the Management and Supervision, Dining Room Operations, and the Facilities Design & Concept Development classes at this facility. Additionally, Jerry has worked with Georgia State University by guest lecturing on such subjects as Customer Relations Management and Data Base Marketing. Jerry is scheduled to complete a Masters in Business Administration in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Georgia State University in 2010.

Jerry was recently awarded the designation of Certified Food & Beverage Executive, the highest designation attainable by the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

On the more personal side of Jerry’s story, he grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and is an avid skier. He has been involved in the sport of Fencing since he was 14 and in fact fenced on Wayne State University’s 4-time NCAA National Championship team.

He is married to Tamara and has 4 children; Leah 25 (who has a degree in Culinary Arts), Jeremy 21 (who has a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Design), Joshua 18 (who has is currently pursuing a degree in Culinary Arts Management), and Hannah 12.

Jerry and his family, currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia, and the surrounding suburbs.
